
Senior Truss Design Engineer
We are seeking a talented Senior Truss Design Engineer who is passionate about designing residential and commercial floor and roof trusses using state-of-the-art design software. In this role, you will work closely with architects and engineers to interpret architectural and structural drawings, ensuring that layouts and component drawings incorporate all critical information.
Please note: This position requires full-time in-office work.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and assess sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering documents provided by design professionals.
Evaluate design ideas based on safety, function, budget, and market characteristics.
Conduct research on production specifications, providing detailed cost estimates and itemized production requirements.
Modify designs to adapt to customer specifications or changes in building plans.
Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes and standards.
Create comprehensive truss layouts for construction purposes.
Develop detailed component documents for work orders to optimize production processes.
Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design team.
Maintain high-quality design standards within the department.
Collaborate effectively with sales, customers, and engineering teams on technical inquiries and design presentations.
Present designs and modifications to stakeholders, including sales teams, customers, architects, and engineers.
Communicate effectively with peers across departments to maintain design continuity and effectiveness.
Engage with customers to clarify expectations and enhance satisfaction.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of industry experience with a demonstrated record in truss design.
Proficient in industry-standard software applications, particularly MikTek Software Suite.
Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve technical problems through effective remediation strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A proactive approach to recommending changes that align with business objectives.
Ability to assess and prioritize situations based on importance, urgency, and risk, making decisions that benefit the organization.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
Competence in operating computer hardware and software efficiently.
