The Provider Credentialing & Lifecycle Specialist plays a critical role in supporting a virtual healthcare organization by owning the end-to-end provider credentialing, onboarding, and offboarding processes. This role collaborates with Provider Operations, HR, IT, and Clinical Leadership to ensure providers are fully compliant, properly credentialed, and operationally ready to deliver high-quality virtual care across mental health, urgent care, and primary care service lines. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and experienced in managing provider lifecycle processes in a virtual or multi-state healthcare setting. Responsibilities
Provider Credentialing
Track provider credentialing status across multiple states and service lines (mental health, urgent care, primary care). Monitor and document license status, DEA registrations, board certifications, malpractice insurance, and payer enrollment milestones. Act as a liaison between providers and internal/external credentialing teams to resolve missing or expired items. Proactively identify credentialing risks or delays and escalate issues to leadership as needed. Maintain up-to-date credentialing dashboards, trackers, and reports to support operational planning. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and payer requirements for virtual healthcare delivery. Lifecycle
Coordinate end-to-end onboarding for clinical providers (physicians, NPs, PAs, therapists) and non-clinical staff as needed. Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires during onboarding, ensuring a positive and efficient experience. Collect, review, and track required onboarding documentation (licenses, certifications, IDs, contracts, background checks, etc.). Partner with IT and Operations to ensure timely system access (EHR, telehealth platforms, communication tools). Facilitate onboarding timelines to align with credentialing, licensing, and go-live readiness. Maintain accurate onboarding records in HRIS, credentialing, and internal tracking systems. Manage the offboarding process for departing providers and employees in a timely and compliant manner. Coordinate termination of system access, telehealth platform credentials, and third-party tools. Notify relevant internal teams (IT, Payroll, Credentialing, Clinical Leadership) of offboarding timelines. Ensure accurate documentation and completion of offboarding checklists. Support license and credential updates related to provider departures, including payer notifications when applicable. Process Improvement & Compliance
Continuously evaluate onboarding, credentialing tracking, and offboarding processes for efficiency and scalability. Assist in developing and updating SOPs, checklists, and workflows for provider lifecycle management. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory standards. Support audits and reporting requests related to provider onboarding and credentialing. Requirements
2+ years of experience in healthcare onboarding, provider operations, HR, or credentialing support. Experience working with licensed healthcare providers (mental health, primary care, urgent care preferred). Strong understanding of provider credentialing requirements and multi-state licensure tracking. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple onboarding and credentialing workflows simultaneously. Proficiency with HRIS, credentialing software, EHRs, and Google Workspace or Microsoft Office. Preferred
Experience in virtual healthcare, telehealth, or multi-state provider organizations. Knowledge of compliance requirements for healthcare organizations (HIPAA, NCQA, state licensing boards). Experience working cross-functionally with clinical, HR, IT, and operations teams. Key Competencies
