
Overview
The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting new catering accounts, entertaining and sustaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed revenue goals. He/she must have a strong knowledge of weddings and understand the importance of prospecting in creating new sales opportunities for the hotel. He/she is also responsible to coordinate and service client functions to ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining profitable operations and high quality products and service levels. This role will work in conjunction with the Director of Sales and Marketing, to achieve the hotel’s revenue, meeting planner satisfaction scores, group rooms goals and B/C sales goals. Responsibilities
Proactively identify and pursue new catering and event sales opportunities. Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients and event organizers. Meet and exceed sales targets through effective lead generation, prospecting, and closing deals. Collaborate with clients to understand their event needs and preferences. Work closely with the hotel's banquet teams to create customized event proposals. Ensure seamless coordination and execution of events, including setup, catering, and other logistical details. Plan, organize, and execute all group and catering events. Collaborate with the culinary team to create customized menus and ensure high-quality food presentation. Coordinate logistics for events, including staffing, equipment rentals, and transportation. Oversee the execution of events to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction. Proactively sell/upsell catering and venue space while servicing events as needed. Maximize revenue opportunities through strategic upselling and enhancements. Schedule and conduct site visits and tastings as needed. Ensure timely and proper turnover to operations for seamless service delivery. Identify and resolve operational challenges in collaboration with staff and clients. Maintain thorough knowledge of products, competition, and business objectives. Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and best practices. Keep Envision accounts, bookings, and activity logs up to date. Generate clear and accurate SOES and room diagrams for operations teams. Conduct pre-event inspections to ensure alignment with client requirements and company standards. Review client billing and payments. Lead BEO meetings and pre/post-event briefings for all B/C events. Lead Resume meetings and pre/post-event briefings for all Group events. Oversee the preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverage to maintain the highest quality standards. Qualifications
At least 4 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 year of related experience. Must be proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets and word processing. Proficiency in Delphi preferred. Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings. Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags. Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions. Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information. Perform other duties as requested by management.
