
The Federal Account Lead for NIH is a senior leadership role responsible for owning and growing A-TEK’s relationship with the National Institutes of Health. This role exists to provide sustained executive presence, deepen customer trust, and shape opportunities early by aligning A-TEK’s capabilities with NIH’s evolving mission needs.
Serving as the owner of the NIH account, the Account Lead builds durable relationships across Institutes and Centers (ICs), gains early insight into program priorities and acquisition strategies, and ensures A-TEK is consistently positioned as a trusted partner. The role balances strategic account leadership with growth accountability, working closely with capture, delivery, and executive leadership to expand A-TEK’s footprint across NIH. In addition to account leadership, this role is expected to actively support business development and proposal efforts within NIH, including opportunity shaping, capture strategy development, and executive-level proposal engagement.
What You’ll Do Account Ownership & Strategic Presence
Serve as the primary executive relationship owner for NIH, maintaining a consistent, senior-level presence across Institutes and Centers.
Build and sustain trusted advisor relationships with NIH program leadership, scientific stakeholders, IT executives, and acquisition officials.
Develop a deep understanding of NIH mission priorities, funding trends, and modernization initiatives to anticipate future needs.
Act as the continuity point for the account, ensuring relationship momentum regardless of procurement timing or contract transitions.
Opportunity Shaping & Growth Leadership
Own and execute the NIH account strategy, including long-range growth planning across recompetes, task orders, and new awards.
Identify and shape opportunities well ahead of solicitation by engaging early with stakeholders and understanding acquisition approaches.
Actively support NIH-focused business development efforts, including customer meetings, opportunity qualification, and early pipeline development.
Collaborate closely with growth team members to assess opportunity fit, competitive positioning, and win probability.
Partner with capture and proposal teams to guide win strategies, solution positioning, and teaming decisions.
Serve in a senior role during proposal efforts, contributing to capture strategy, solution framing, executive summaries, and customer messaging as appropriate.
Maintain a forward-looking view of the NIH pipeline across Institutes and Centers, with accountability for opportunity maturity, competitiveness, and alignment with A-TEK capabilities.
Drive expansion into larger and more complex NIH opportunities through disciplined account planning and stakeholder engagement.
Client Impact & Delivery Enablement
Provide executive oversight and governance across NIH engagements to ensure strong performance, client satisfaction, and positioning for recompetes.
Use delivery insight to reinforce credibility, uncover expansion opportunities, and support long-term account growth.
Translate NIH mission challenges into practical, mission-aligned solutions leveraging A-TEK’s strengths in digital modernization, data, cloud, cybersecurity, and agile engineering.
Proactively manage account-level risks that could impact performance, reputation, or growth.
Internal Leadership & Collaboration
Partner across A-TEK’s growth, delivery, and technology teams to bring integrated, client-relevant solutions to NIH.
Mentor and guide capture managers, delivery leaders, and technical staff supporting the NIH account.
Support proposal teams during key NIH pursuits by providing customer insight, strategic guidance, and executive-level review.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and long-term thinking aligned with A-TEK’s values and growth objectives.
What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications
10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in federal consulting or health IT, with significant experience supporting NIH or other HHS operating divisions.
Deep familiarity with NIH’s organizational structure, Institutes and Centers, and acquisition environment.
Demonstrated success owning and growing federal accounts through early engagement, opportunity shaping, and executive-level relationships.
Proven experience supporting or leading capture strategies and actively participating in proposal efforts in complex federal environments.
Strong understanding of federal acquisition processes and vehicles (FAR, GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs, GSA, etc.).
Experience supporting or competing for larger, complex federal opportunities.
Excellent executive communication and relationship-building skills across government, industry, and internal teams.
Sufficient technical depth to guide solutioning across areas such as data platforms, cloud, cybersecurity, analytics, and agile delivery.
Desired / Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience serving as an account lead or client executive within a federal consulting or systems integration firm.
Familiarity with research IT, health data ecosystems, or AI-enabled services.

Compensation The base salary for this position is $175,000 per year. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for additional incentive compensation, which is variable and uncapped, and is tied to the successful capture of new business and achievement of defined growth and performance objectives
