Excess Casualty Underwriter
to join their team.
The Opportunity As an
Excess Casualty Underwriter , you’ll underwrite and price new and renewal business, strengthen relationships with wholesale partners, and collaborate with internal teams—including Loss Control, Claims, and Accounting—to drive profitable growth. You’ll assess financials, loss history, and exposure to determine underwriting acceptability, review submissions for accuracy, and set appropriate terms and pricing.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently handling smaller accounts or in a junior underwriting role—with retail or wholesale experience—ready to take the next step in their career.
Location Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
What We’re Looking For
Commercial Insurance Underwriting experience
Excess Casualty underwriting experience preferred; Excess & Surplus experience also considered.
Strong understanding of small account commercial risks
Track record of building successful relationships with either Wholesale or Retail partners
Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant underwriting systems
Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
