Job Summary WMBF is seeking a strategic and innovative Broadcast Engineer to lead our technical operations and maintain all systems, workflows, and technology that enable the instant, error‑free communication of our content to audiences across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a driven, detail‑oriented technician who can design, build, and maintain cutting‑edge technology while providing exceptional customer service to News, Sales, and Marketing departments. As our Broadcast Engineer, you will champion technical excellence, ensuring the integrity, quality, and reliability of all broadcast and digital operations—from seamless on‑air delivery to efficient production workflows.

Duties / Responsibilities

Oversee daily maintenance, repair, and installation of broadcast, production (cameras, audio, video), IT, and streaming systems.

Ensure operational readiness and provide rapid response to technical issues during live broadcasts and remote productions.

Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs and strategic downtime scheduling.

Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Ensure adherence to FCC, OSHA, and corporate regulatory standards.

Maintain comprehensive equipment records, system documentation, and disaster recovery plans.

Conduct regular audits and prepare compliance reports as needed.

Partner with Production, IT, and other departments to support operational needs and strategic goals.

Provide technical guidance and training to staff across the organization.

Communicate proactively with stakeholders to anticipate and address technical needs.

Qualifications / Requirements Required Qualifications

3+ years of professional broadcast engineering experience.

Strong working knowledge of SDI/IP workflows, production systems, and IT infrastructure.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.

Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational abilities.

Proficiency with broadcast automation, streaming platforms, and related technologies.

Quick learner with the ability to adapt rapidly to new technologies and work situations.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Ability to work varying hours, including weekends and on‑call support.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with emerging media technologies and next‑generation broadcast systems.

Knowledge of live event production and multi‑platform distribution.

SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers) certification or equivalent credentials.

Experience in a news or fast‑paced broadcast environment.

Work Environment

This position requires flexibility to support 24/7 broadcast operations.

The successful candidate must be available for varying shifts, weekend work, and occasional emergency on‑call support to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
