Job Description:
As an HVAC Outside Sales Engineer, you’ll take a consultative approach to building trusted relationships with mechanical engineers, contractors, and building owners. You’ll lead strategic account development, manage complex sales pipelines, and deliver tailored HVAC solutions that solve real-world challenges. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role that blends technical expertise with relationship-building to drive long-term growth and customer success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving sales growth, managing accounts, and delivering technical solutions. Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and foster relationships with mechanical engineers, contractors, and building owners
Drive growth through strategic account planning and targeted business development
Manage commercial accounts with a focus on long-term customer satisfaction and retention
Ensure profitability by adhering to pricing structures and established sales processes
Understand specific customer requirements to create tailored HVAC solutions
Deliver timely, accurate solutions through product recommendations and system design expertise
Promote the Force Equipment product line at HVAC-related promotional events
Work closely with clients to ensure optimal satisfaction throughout each project lifecycle
Project Coordination
Collaborate with internal engineering and support teams to ensure seamless project execution
Oversee project management activities including quotations, order processing, and tracking
Manage logistics including freight claims, product availability, and warranty or field service coordination
Maintain clear communication across internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success
Technical Expertise and Continuous Learning
Stay current on HVAC fundamentals and product innovations
Leverage deep technical knowledge to deliver high-value, practical solutions
Educate yourself, colleagues, and customers on emerging technologies and best practices
Experience and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
Minimum 5 years of successful experience in Commercial/Applied HVAC Sales Engineering (preferred)
Experience with CRM tools and sales tracking systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven ability to build and sustain long-term, mutually beneficial customer relationships
Strong consultative sales approach with experience navigating complex, matrixed environments
In‑depth technical expertise in commercial HVAC systems and familiarity with key manufacturers in the market
Effective multitasking and organizational skills with a sharp attention to detail
Established network and reputation within the HVAC industry
Applies strategic and analytical thinking to evaluate solutions and drive resultsEnergetic, enthusiastic, and professional—thrives in a fast‑paced environment
Works effectively across teams, customers, and suppliers with a collaborative mindset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both internally and externally
