Job Summary The Inside Sales Representative is a critical member of a Support Team, responsible for providing superior customer service, order book management, proactive collaboration with the team and our customers, and proactive communication with internal and external customers to ensure customer requirements are satisfied. This role works closely with members of the Support Team, including the Account Manager, other Inside Sales Representatives, and Buyers, and collaborates with all functions of the organization to provide great customer service and effectively manage existing customer business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop a complete understanding of customer needs and expectations; communicate these expectations within the Support Team and with other functional areas to ensure great customer service.

Gain new business opportunities through managing spot buy process, ensuring timely responses to customers and Outside Sales and efficient order processing.

Increase sales through building customer relationships and delivering superior customer service.

Manage Order Book and collaborate with Outside Sales and Account Manager and timely input/update forecast.

Create new customers and Customer Part Spec in Steel Tech’s system, expediting as needed.

Manage customer orders from inception to payment - order to cash.

Direct production facilities to convert raw material to finished product through sales and source order placement.

Ensure timely and accurate entry of release orders to support effective transportation planning and meet customer delivery requirements.

Complete weekly Inventory Management Report (IMR) / Material Requirement Planning (MRP) reviews for all accounts for effective order book management.

Manage finished goods levels and push aging material; escape to Account Manager based on Sales Agreement.

Manage claim entry and ensure disposition is provided to customer in a timely manner.

Generate, maintain, and analyze various reports and spreadsheets to provide directions and recommendations to other departments and to provide information to customers.

Serve as a back-up for the other Inside Sales Representatives, Buyers, and the Account Manager on the Support Team.

Work in the office and interact face-to-face with members of your Support Team to further collaboration and promote learning, training, development, growth, and productivity within the Team.

Job Requirements

Proactive with strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Thorough general knowledge and understanding of customer service and inventory management.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management and teammates.

Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, and manage difficult customer situations.

Able to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

Excellent organization, problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Attention to detail is required.

Computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Suites and basic computer skills.

Excellent data entry skills required.

Education and Experience Requirements Prefer an Associate’s Degree in a related field with at least two years of sales, purchasing, or customer service experience in manufacturing. Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.

Working Conditions This work is performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people.
