As the Sales Lead, you will play a key role in developing a high-performing transportation sales team, be responsible for growing your own book of customer relationships primarily within the food and beverage industry. You will manage day-to-day customer sales activities, train and mentor sales representatives, and collaborate across departments to meet profitability, service goals and team growth goals.

Your role combines team leadership, customer development, and sales strategy in a fast-paced logistics environment. Success in this role will lead to opportunities for advancement in sales leadership & will be measured by team performance, revenue growth, margin contribution, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company KPIs.

Job Responsibilities

Prospecting customers by placing phone calls to leads and prospects, building relationships, and providing logistics solutions.

Generating revenue by actively engaging shippers and manufacturers to promote AITI's freight brokerage services and secure transportation opportunities.

Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Customer Sales Representatives, fostering a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.

Effectively utilize multiple channels (phone, networking, email, etc.) to identify and establish two-way communication with key decision makers.

Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales goals and initiatives.

Manage and report on sales pipeline, forecasting 30-60-90 revenue.

Complete RFQ’s and bids to compete for business within accounts.

Establish and track sales KPIs, quotas, and performance metrics for the customer sales team.

The position will entail a blend of inside and outside sales, with nearly 80% of your communication and prospecting to be done via phone.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of the freight sales process and key strategies for market penetration by developing rapport with prospective customers.

Traveling as necessary to maintain and meet with prospects/customers and train/lead Sales Representatives (approximately 20%).

Other duties as required by the business.

Job Requirements

4+ years’ proven experience in the transportation/logistics industry. 2+ years’ experience in a strategic leadership and/or sales role directly supervising employees.

Ability to travel approximately up to 20%.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data to translate results into numbers and solutions.

Previous experience with an ERP/CRM system, Microsoft Office or Transportation Software.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Customer Service Attitude.

Highly developed sense of integrity and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Understands a sense of urgency around resolving customer questions and concerns.

Displays a passion for professional selling and people.

Candidates with a proven track record of success and an established book of business will be given preference.
