Job Description Classification Title:
Marketing and Communications Specialist I/II
Classification Minimum Requirements:
Level I: Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level II: Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities Content Creation & Storytelling
Research, write and craft compelling stories, blogs, newsletters, and website content to showcase HWCOE and its departments' achievements and initiatives.
Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers and photographers to create engaging multimedia content tailored for digital platforms.
Develop targeted messaging and campaigns for various audiences to support organizational goals.
Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and supports the overall communications strategy.
Social Media Management
Develop and implement social media strategies for designated departments to enhance visibility and engagement across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and emerging channels.
Create, schedule and monitor social media content, ensuring consistency in voice, tone and branding.
Engage with audiences by responding to comments, messages and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
Stay updated on social media trends, tools and best practices, and recommend strategies to improve performance.
Analyze social media metrics and prepare regular reports to assess effectiveness and inform future strategies.
Internal Communication & Collaboration
Partner with internal teams to gather information and identify opportunities for content development.
Provide guidance and support to departments and stakeholders on effective use of social media.
Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to ensure cohesive messaging across all channels.
Strategic Communications
Assist in developing and executing public relations and communication plans.
Monitor industry trends, news cycles and current events to identify proactive opportunities for storytelling.
Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure integration across communication channels.
Event Promotion
Support the planning and promotion of events and community outreach activities.
Develop communication materials and/or post-event recaps.
Measurement and Reporting
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of public relations initiatives using analytics tools and media monitoring platforms.
Provide regular updates on campaign results and earned media coverage to stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary Level I:
$50,000 - $55,000
Level II:
$55,000 - $60,000
Required Qualifications
Level I: Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level II: Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred
Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
At least three years of experience in public relations, communications or a related role.
Experience in higher education, nonprofit or corporate communications.
Proficiency with media monitoring tools and analytics platforms.
Strong understanding of AP style and best practices in writing for various audiences and platforms.
Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems.
