REQ205773**Job Description:**The Pharmacy Director is a mission-critical leadership position responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and fiscally sound delivery of pharmaceutical services for the Brown University community. This role provides essential clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial management for Student Health Pharmacy, directly impacting patient safety, continuity of care, and the University’s ability to meet state, federal, and accreditation standards.In overseeing pharmacy operations, the Pharmacy Director provides leadership in clinical decision-making, medication safety, staff supervision, inventory control, and budget stewardship, supporting more than 30,000 prescriptions annually and daily patient counseling for over 100 students. The position serves as a key clinical resource for physicians, nurses, athletic trainers, and other providers, while also acting as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, vendors, and third-party payers.In addition, the Pharmacy Director ensures continuity of care by maintaining active connectivity with a national network of pharmacies, facilitating prescription transfers and coordination of care for students receiving treatment off campus, during academic breaks, or while traveling.The Pharmacy Director’s leadership is essential to maintaining uninterrupted access to medications, safeguarding institutional compliance, managing a multi-million dollar operation, and advancing continuous quality improvement initiatives that protect student health and the University’s financial and operational integrity.**Job Qualifications****Education and Experience*** Registered Pharmacist with an active Rhode Island license.* Three years of experience in a retail setting required.* Three years supervisory experience required.* Financial experience involving price setting, profit margins, cost containment strategies required.**Job Competencies*** Experience with pharmacy software preferred.* Strong analytical/quantitative skills required.* Excellent interpersonal skills required* Experience with PC computers preferred.**Background Check:**All offers of employment are contingent upon a successful criminal background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown.**Additional Information:**Please submit a resume and cover letter when applying for this position.
