Marketing Manager - Content & Audience Development
Hyperallergic is a leading online voice publishing contemporary perspectives on art, culture, and more. Founded in 2009 as a forum for playful, serious, and radical perspectives on art in society, Hyperallergic combines art world news coverage with insightful commentary to reach an influential audience of over 1 million readers a month.
Hyperallergic is seeking a full-time Marketing Manager to join our growing team in Brooklyn, NY, primarily focusing on social media and newsletters with additional support on events.
Responsibilities
Work closely with our marketing and editorial teams to promote our stories to various audiences and grow subscribers
Create social media copy and visual assets for editorial stories across our core platforms, optimizing for timing, tone, and look
Manage Hyperallergic’s social content calendar and daily publishing schedule, tracking post performance for weekly strategy reviews
Monitor follower engagement on social channels and keep tabs on feedback, trends, and other information that could help the publication engage with our community
Collaborate with editorial on packaging stories for daily newsletter distribution to foster subscriber engagement while maintaining Hyperallergic’s brand and vision
Maintain database of evergreen stories for resurfacing relevant content in newsletters and on social media
Assist with execution of newsletter and social content for ad campaigns, partnerships, and membership drives
Coordinate planning and marketing for seasonal events
Support the publishing team with other related projects and deliverables as needed
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in creating digital content, social media marketing
Excellent copywriting skills and an instinct for editorial judgment
Outstanding organizational skills and ease with multitasking, ability to comfortably manage multiple platforms and priorities with impeccable attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Experience with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Pixelmator, Canva, Figma, or other similar software
Familiarity with newsletter software, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, TikTok, YouTube
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with short-form video is a plus
