
Job Summary
System One is seeking an experienced
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
to support the
Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR)
program. This position supports mechanical design and analysis activities, beginning with
component scoping
and evolving into
pre-conceptual design
of reactor components. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with
thermal-hydraulics, materials engineering, suppliers, and program partners
in a fast-paced, high-performing environment to deliver mechanical design solutions supporting the MCFR demonstration. Responsibilities
Perform component scoping to meet governing code requirements and project requirements Generate basic sizing calculations for reactor components Develop 3D models of reactor components using commercial CAD tools Perform mechanical analyses using finite element methods with commercial codes Coordinate with other disciplines and partners to deliver mechanical design solutions Conduct technical reviews of internal and supplier designs and deliverables Required Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
(or related discipline) and
10+ years
of relevant experience OR M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
(or related discipline) and
6+ years
of relevant experience Recent experience with mechanical analysis software ( ANSYS preferred ) Recent experience with CAD software ( SolidWorks preferred ) Experience with
ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code
and
ASME B31 codes
( ASME BPVC III.5 highly desired ) Experience working under a Quality Program (example:
NQA-1
or
ISO 9001 ) Demonstrated ability to deliver qualified hardware and supporting documentation Knowledge of fabrication operations including machining, welding, heat treatment, and inspections Strong communication skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment Preferred Qualifications
PE License (Washington)
or eligibility for licensure Understanding of molten salt reactors, fast reactors, and/or other advanced reactor systems Physical Job Functions / Working Conditions
