
## DescriptionThe Mercatus Center at George Mason University is hiring a Marketing Associate to support our growing Marketing & Production Team. This early-career role is perfect for someone excited about social media, email marketing, and digital analytics, and who wants to help amplify the research, ideas, and talent that support a free and prosperous society.You’ll work closely with the Marketing & Reporting Manager to create social content, build and schedule email campaigns, track performance across platforms, and support integrated marketing efforts across the organization. We’ll provide training on all tools and platforms—we’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn.This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about crafting compelling content and has an interest in classical liberal ideas, free-market research, and the institutions that allow people and communities to thrive. You’ll work in a collaborative environment where your technical skills and strategic thinking help elevate emerging talent and the ideas that shape a free and flourishing society.This is a hybrid role requiring two in-office days per week. Occasional additional on-site days may be needed based on team projects, events, or organizational priorities.What You’ll DoSocial Media Support* Write, schedule, and publish posts for Mercatus’s brand accounts (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram).* Create digital assets (graphics, carousels, clips) using Canva or Adobe tools.* Track analytics to help refine content strategy.Email Marketing* Develop event marketing strategies and communications.* Build and schedule newsletters and event emails in Marketing Cloud.* Format and QA email content for accuracy and brand consistency.* Pull performance metrics (opens, clicks, unsubscribes) to inform email marketing strategies.Production & Short-Form Content* Create short-form video and audio clips from podcasts and longer-form video content for social media.* Produce short-form digital content for use across Mercatus' social media platforms.* Assist with podcast recordings and video production as needed.Cross-Team Coordination* Partner with program teams, scholars, and design to support marketing campaigns.* Assist with ongoing process improvements and special projects across teams.## QualificationsRequired* Up to 4 years of experience in marketing, communications, or digital media.* Strong writing and editing skills.* Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple deadlines.* Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn new tools and systems.* Motivation to amplify research and emerging talent grounded in classical liberal and free-market ideas.Preferred (Training Provided)* Experience with social media tools like Sprout Social and CapCut.* Familiarity with email platforms (Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp, HubSpot).* Experience with Salesforce or CRM systems.* Design skills in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.* Comfort pulling and organizing data for reports***EEO Statement:** We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
