Incumbent will serve as the Supervisor for the Interior Design Group of the Engineering Service - Projects & Construction Management Section. Responsible for 3 Interior Designers - 1 Interior Design Assistant - 8 contractors - 2 Move Managers and 6 Installers at the Tibor Rubin Medical Center. Qualifications

Educations and experience may be substituted per the schedule for this GS-12 level: • Time-In-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. An SF-50(s) showing time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted. If the most recent SF-50 does not clearly demonstrate one-year time-in-grade, provide an additional SF-50. Time-In-Grade applies to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement and for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments. • Specialized Experience (1 year) equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11. Examples include design and alteration of interior spaces to meet functional and aesthetic needs; programming, design analysis, space planning, coordination of mechanical/electrical/structural disciplines; project management including cost estimates, bid review, on-site visits, and post-occupancy evaluations; and development of space management standards. • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree with major study in interior design or related field (or NCIDQ) as specified. • Combination: Education and experience may be combined as appropriate to meet the requirements. Responsible for the design of patient-friendly environments which are conducive to healing, aesthetically appealing, safe, code and regulation compliant. Works with site managers, department chiefs, project engineers, and contractors to plan, design and develop interior design technical specifications and FF&E budgets for activations and end-user move-ins for projects up to $20 million. Prepares space and interior design plans using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and freehand sketches showing furniture layouts, finishes, schedules, equipment, graphics, signage, etc., to complete project designs. Provides technical guidance and monitors contractor performance regarding interior design issues; specifies installed materials and finishes to ensure maintenance, cleanliness, longevity, and compliance with the design program. Specifies and enters orders for FF&E, window treatments, floor coverings, ceilings, wall coverings, art, ambient lighting, and related interior design elements. Verifies receipt of orders, coordinates storage if needed, and oversees installation when space renovations are completed. Manages budgets (over $5 million annually) and larger year-end funds as allocated; maintains interior and exterior signage and wayfinding per VA Signage Manual and ABAAS standards; coordinates installation and efficacy of signage where areas intersect. Establishes and maintains LBVAHCS interior design standard finishes for the medical center across offices, exam rooms, waiting rooms, conference rooms, operating rooms, and procedure rooms, in accordance with VHA TI Library and fire/life safety documents. Ensures safety and compliance in work activities; coordinates with site teams and facilities for project execution. Working Conditions & Schedule
Work is performed at a desk and in the field; site visits within the medical center and area facilities may be required; visits to construction sites throughout hospital structures and grounds; travel as needed.
