
We are hiring a Coding Specialist for an exciting opportunity to join our growing team at our Regional Support Office in Alpharetta!

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8AM - 5PM, no nights or weekends
This is a HYBRID REMOTE work schedule (4 days remote / 1 day in office in Alpharetta)
- after training. The Coding Specialist is responsible for translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into universal alphanumeric codes for billing, data analysis, and record-keeping. These codes are used to process insurance claims and ensure proper reimbursement for healthcare providers. The role requires an understanding of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and anatomy. Many specialists also possess a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification. Duties may include but not limited to: Code assignment: Review patient medical charts, reports, and documentation to accurately assign and sequence standardized medical codes, including:
ICD-10-CM: Codes for diagnoses. CPT: Codes for procedures and services. HCPCS: Codes for supplies and non-physician services.
Compliance and auditing: Ensure that all coding practices adhere to industry regulations and official guidelines, such as those from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). May also conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy. Documentation clarification: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to clarify insufficient, ambiguous, or incomplete clinical documentation. Requirements: Dependable team player is a must. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Prior medical experience is required.
