Summary

As the Associate Actuarial Director, you will help oversee and lead the development of key value-based care analytical solutions. To be successful in this role, you should have enthusiasm for collaborating with cross-functional teams to creatively solve problems through analytic approaches. Ultimately, the Actuary helps build algorithms and structured analyses that guide our clients in making the most impactful decisions by identifying cost and quality improvement opportunities.

Lead the development and maintenance of actuarial models that support value-based care programs (ACOs, bundle payments, capitation, shared savings/risk)

Assist with the development of actuarial models to assess and evaluate VBC program effectiveness and ROI

Forecast financial performance of CMS/CMMI programs (MSSP, REACH, TEAMS etc.) and identify key drivers of underperformance

Conduct risk adjustment analytics based on various models (CMS/HHS HCC, CDPS, etc.) and the impact on VBC financial performance

Clearly explain value-based contract forecast assumptions, volatility, sensitivity analysis, and risks to clients

Streamline repetitive actuarial tasks by leveraging opportunities to integrate methods as software features, enhancing efficiency and productivity.

Assist software developers in deploying software features through the development of written requirements, definition of use cases, user acceptance testing, and serving as a subject matter expert to assure appropriate use of methods as well as proper communication of limitations and disclosures

Explain reports, forecasts, and findings to various parties, from company executives to clients, shareholders, and government officials

Build predictive models to accurately analyze potential outcomes

Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for new investments and funds

Develop mathematical analyses and financial principles to solve insurance problems that comply with actuarial standards of practice (ASOPs)

Job Location:

Fully Remote/Virtual from within the United States

Required Experience / Qualifications

10+ years of relevant Actuary experience

ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries)

Hands-on experience working with CMS value-based care models (e.g., MSSP and/or ACO REACH/Direct Contracting) as well as experience with models in Commercial, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage market spaces, including Pay for Performance contracts, ACOs, Capitation and Bundle models

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or business.

Hands-on experience with statistical packages like R or Python

Detailed numerical and analytical skills

Ability to speak professionally and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience and write simple correspondence.

Currently eligible to work in the U.S. without assistance in securing an employment visa or work authorization.
