Overview The George Washington University Division of University Advancement is seeking a Senior Associate Director, University Events. The Division is seeking a Senior Associate Director, University Events. The position will report to the Director, University Events. This is a central position that executes university-wide, visible, prestigious events, such as Commencement, Presidential Inauguration, awards ceremonies, centennial anniversaries, and comprehensive campaigns. The core responsibilities of this role are to plan and execute large events, to lead sub-committees comprised of representatives from across the university (faculty, staff, and administrators), to establish project plans, timelines and benchmarks, and to monitor event progress. This position also manages complex budgets of significant size, negotiates with vendors and arranges for the utilization of institutional resources. This position will also coordinate large groups of volunteers and temporary staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC (but may require some local travel).
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
