The tax filing industry hasn’t been disrupted in 35 years and the U.S. has 3x accountants per capita vs other developed nations. Even for middle class American households, getting a fair tax outcome requires an expensive accountant. Software might be eating the world, but not when it comes to tax preparation. Over half of American households still file each year through human tax professionals.
We’re on a mission to change that. AI has unlocked the opportunity to build a truly intelligent and personalized tax filing experience competitive with the best accountants. As a Senior Product Designer at Keeper, you’ll be driving this vision forward. Here are a few examples of what that looks like:
Our tax document data extraction systems make it possible for users to simply upload whatever documents they have in bulk and Keeper takes care of it — akin to dropping off forms with an accountant.
Our LLM-based live tax assistance unlocks real-time Q&A at a level of accuracy that surpasses 80% of licensed tax professionals in blind testing.
Come help us build the first full-stack AI tax filing platform.
We’ve raised $15M from investors who also led early rounds at Netflix, Acorns, Canva, and others
We have ~40,000 paying subscribers (most pay at least $199 / year)
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer motivated by the opportunity to build delightful user experiences in the tax prep space. As the first design hire, you’ll get autonomy, ownership, and ship experiences that have a high impact across the entire product.
Here are some things we’re opinionated about when it comes to the design role:
A unique set of responsibilities Our team works in pairs to release new features or iterations of an existing surface area (PM+Engineer or Designer+Engineer). With fewer stakeholders closely working on specs, our teams are able to move faster than the traditional “Trinity” (PM+Designer+Engineer). You can learn more about our roles & responsibilities mapping here .
Crisp, clear documentation Great docs are the antidote to back-to-back meetings. We try very hard to keep our communications as efficient as possible by doing live meetings only after the context has been shared and pre-read asynchronously.
A servant leader mentality You will have enormous responsibility and influence as the first design hire at Keeper. The rest of the team is giving you that authority because they trust and respect you. It’s a delicate balance and requires a low-ego mentality while still driving clear, opinionated, decisions.
