
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities
Along with University leadership and staff in the library, establishes a strategic vision that drives student and faculty success; responsible for executing that vision.
Collaborates across campus to actively promote and forward the library’s role in integrating information literacy into the curriculum.
Assesses student services, virtual and physical, responds to findings, and initiates new programs to improve services and collections.
Serves on special and/or standing committees, governance bodies, or councils of the University, as per Faculty Statutes and as requested.
Develops and manages an annual budget of approximately $2 million and provides financial stewardship, resource allocation, and long-term planning. Actively monitors and regulates expenditures to ensure fiscal alignment with institutional goals.
Authorizes hiring decisions and builds a high-performance team through intentional talent development, performance management, and mentorship.
Delegates responsibly and both manages and supports staff.
Builds productive working relationships across all personnel and maintains a culture of respect consistent with the University’s mission.
Spearheads initiatives to keep the library adaptive and responsive to emerging academic trends.

Education / Experience
Master of Library Science or equivalent from an American Library Association-accredited institution
Minimum 7 years of increasingly progressive library leadership experience
Experience supervising individuals or teams
Strong supervisory skills and a record of success mentoring direct reports.
Commitment to evidence-based decision making to improve library and student services.
Strategic thinking and advocacy skills; ability to empower staff and plan for the future.
Ability to negotiate and sustain high-level partnerships across multiple university divisions and external stakeholders.
Understanding of library functional areas, as well as the academic support and technology needs of students, staff, and faculty.
Understanding of the landscape of student support and success services.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
Commitment to listening and leading with empathy and transparency.
Commitment to professional development and a record of contributions to the profession.
Ability to provide inclusive and collaborative management and leadership throughout all job duties.
High degree of creativity and initiative.
