About the Position The Director of Technology is responsible for leading design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the organization’s technology platforms, systems, and services. This role bridges business strategy and technical execution—ensuring technology enables operational excellence, exceptional customer and employee experiences, and long-term organizational scalability. The Director of Technology leads cross-functional technology teams, partners closely with business leaders, and translates organizational priorities into resilient, secure, and user-centered technology solutions.

Establish technology principles, standards, and governance that promote consistency and agility.

Serve as a thought partner to executive leadership on how technology can enable growth, efficiency, and innovation.

Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural integrity and scalability.

Oversee core enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, data platforms, collaboration tools, and line-of-business applications).

Guide solution architecture decisions across build vs. buy, cloud vs. on-prem, and integration strategies. Ensure systems are secure, reliable, well-documented, and designed for extensibility.

Own vendor strategy, including selection, contracts, performance management, and cost optimization.

Delivery, Operations & Service Management

Lead teams responsible for technology design and delivery.

Ensure high availability, performance, and supportability of production systems for operations and support.

Design and build resilient products with service management practices that emphasize reliability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement in mind.

Partner with stakeholders to prioritize work based on business value and operational impact.

Data, Security & Risk

Ensure strong cybersecurity, privacy, and risk management practices across the technology landscape.

Partner with compliance, finance, and other functions to meet regulatory and governance requirements.

Promote responsible data management, analytics, and decision-making across the organization.

People & Culture

Build, mentor, and retain high-performing technology teams.

Create a culture of ownership, learning, psychological safety, and accountability.

Clarify roles, expectations, and career pathways for technology staff.

Encourage collaboration across IT, operations, and business teams.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles.

Proven experience leading enterprise-scale systems and cross-functional technology teams.

Strong understanding of modern cloud platforms, SaaS ecosystems, integration patterns, and data platforms.

Experience partnering with senior business leaders to deliver technology outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendors, and complex portfolios of work.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in nonprofit, retail, logistics, healthcare, or other mission-critical operating environments.

Familiarity with IT service management, product management, and agile delivery models.

Experience leading digital transformation or modernization initiatives.

Background in security, compliance, or regulated environments a plus.

Office and store environment, moderate noise level, dust.

Must have reliable transportation as this position requires some travel to Evergreen Goodwill locations, offsite meetings and events.
