
Job Description:
The Indirect Tax Engine Specialist reports to the Global Tax Digital Transformation Lead supporting the testing, maintenance, and deployment of the tax engine within SAP S4 HANA. This role will help ensure accurate tax determination across multiple jurisdictions, partner with cross‑functional teams, and keep our systems aligned with evolving VAT, GST, and sales & use tax requirements. Key Responsibilities: Support configuration, testing, and maintenance of the indirect tax engine integrated with SAP S4 HANA. Collaborate with IT, Finance, and Tax teams to ensure accurate tax determination across multiple jurisdictions. Execute end‑to‑end testing cycles (unit, integration, regression, and UAT) for tax engine updates and S4 HANA deployments. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot tax calculation issues, ensuring compliance with global indirect tax requirements. Maintain documentation of tax engine configurations, test scripts, and issue resolution logs. Partner with external vendors and consultants to implement tax engine patches, upgrades, and enhancements. Ensure alignment of tax engine rules with evolving indirect tax legislation (VAT, GST, sales & use tax, etc.). Provide ongoing support for business users, including training and issue resolution. Participate in change management activities to ensure smooth deployment of new tax engine functionalities. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize tax processes and system efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Strong knowledge of indirect tax concepts (VAT, GST, sales & use tax). Hands‑on experience with SAP S4 HANA and tax engine solutions (e.g., Vertex, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, Avalara). Proven expertise in system testing methodologies and defect management. Ability to translate tax requirements into system configurations and test cases. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams. Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance. Experience in large‑scale ERP deployments is a plus.
