In this crucial role, you will be an advocate for our clients, enhancing their experience by understanding their unique risks and providing tailored solutions for their Property & Casualty insurance needs.
As a member of our Market Facing Underwriting team at Zurich, you can anticipate the following:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients across various industries to meet business objectives.
Leverage your Property and Casualty underwriting expertise to assess risks, evaluate exposures, and price effectively, ensuring a profitable portfolio of new and renewal business.
Collaborate with diverse business units—such as claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting—to deepen your knowledge within this dynamic sector.
Utilize your technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to strengthen relationships with preferred distribution partners in your region.
This role may be filled as either an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. Basic Qualifications for Underwriting Specialist: A High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
A High School Diploma or equivalent and 6+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ year in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Knowledge of relevant lines of business and legal regulations.
Understanding of timelines for quotes on new and renewal business.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Basic Qualifications for Executive Underwriter: A High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
A High School Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience managing timelines for timely quotes on new and renewal business.
Able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Experience utilizing Microsoft Office.
Your compensation at Zurich will reflect your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair pay and may offer bonuses and merit increases. If your salary expectations exceed the stated range, we encourage you to apply; your unique experience is valuable to us. The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $165,000.00. The salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $75,000.00 - $125,000.00, with a 10% short-term incentive bonus. For the Executive Underwriter, the proposed range is $98,500.00 - $165,000.00, also with a 15% short-term incentive bonus.
