
Overview
The Letters of Credit Operations Specialist plays a vital role in managing international trade transactions through the issuance, amendment, advising, and confirmation of commercial and standby letters of credit. This position is key in ensuring compliance with organizational policies and providing excellent client support for various financial instruments.
What You'll Do:
Process, document, issue, and authorize various types of letters of credit, including Commercial, Performance, and Standby letters.
Review export documentation to ensure compliance with letter of credit terms and monitor incoming funds for export bills, instructing necessary banks for payment actions.
Manage incoming and outgoing documentary collections.
Prepare correspondence related to confirmation, acceptance, or rejection of letters of credit.
Handle renewals and increases of letters of credit.
Provide guidance to internal clients on issues related to letters of credit.
Examine and approve requests for EXIM Bank and other insurance policies.
Conduct OFAC checks on all involved parties in letter of credit and collection documentation.
Review system enhancements for relevance and impact.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and research issues effectively.
Perform audits and quality assurance testing to ensure compliance with bank policies regarding letters of credit.
Participate in cross-training and contribute to special projects.
Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Deliver outstanding client service by resolving inquiries and complaints promptly.
Qualifications
2-4 years of experience in collateral control, client service, or operations within the banking sector.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Good mathematical skills and the ability to manage high-volume, accurate output.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Prior experience in Commercial Lending within an International Banking context is a plus.
Strong understanding of general banking concepts, products, and services.
Excellent interpersonal skills to nurture relationships with clients.
In-depth knowledge of letters of credit, foreign collections, foreign exchange, and trade finance is essential.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
