Job Summary:
This position assists incoming callers with requests and provides great customer service. An upbeat, patient-centered attitude is a must! Our employees must, at all times, safeguard and protect patients' right to privacy. We are responsible for ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to our patients' medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. Applicants should have familiarity with medical terminology and medical office processes and procedures.
*** This role is fully on-site within a hospital facility in Newport News, VA!
Essential Functions: Assists incoming callers with the process of submitting a request for medical records Provide status updates regarding requests Route calls internally to different hospital departments as needed Responsible for Opening and Scanning Incoming Mail Other duties as assigned Qualifications:
1 year prior experience in a medical records department or like setting preferred Minimum of 6 months prior inbound call center experience required Strong technical/computer skills General working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel Great communication skills Must be able to multi-task Must be able to type 50 wpm Must be able to use fax, copier, scanning machine Must be willing to learn new equipment and processes quickly Must be self-motivated, a team player and have proven customer satisfaction skills Understanding of HIPAA Privacy laws and compliance standards Local to Newport News, VA!
