
Recreation Specialist
Preparing, coordinating, and supervising activities for offenders/detainees. Explains and demonstrates to inmates the proper technique and use of all recreational equipment, including the enforcement of safety rules and regulations. Inspects recreation areas for cleanliness and safety. Maintains recreation department records. Access the needs and interests of offenders/detainees and plan activities, accordingly, given the available equipment or facilities. Orders, maintains, and schedules the repair of all recreation department equipment. Purchase equipment and supplies needed for all recreational activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to be tact, have excellent judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive situations. Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate. 2 + years of experience leading a recreation program. Administrative, clerical, and customer service experience required. Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems quickly and use technology effectively. Physical Requirements:
