Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Supply Chain for ITT (Connect & Control Technologies), the Director, Strategic Sourcing is a critical member of the Global Supply Management group responsible for enhancing overall supply chain performance through the effective management of ~$200M in global spend. In this role, you are responsible for aligning ITT's business strategy to your assigned categories and maintaining the best sources of supply. You are responsible for building strong supplier relationships and being proactive in mitigating supply chain challenges due to emerging economic trends around pricing, logistics, and geo-political risks. Working collaboratively with cross functional teams, you will identify and champion complexity reduction initiatives that will enhance profitability and service to customers.
This is an on-site position with up to 50% travel that will be located in Orchard Park, NY.
Essential Responsibilities
For the assigned categories, develop and implement sourcing / supply chain strategies to harness economies of scale, drive economic value, manage supply chain risk, and enable business growth at a global level in a multi-market-culture environment. Lead complex and critical negotiations utilizing extensive professional knowledge of principles and techniques of negotiation in the purchasing cycle. Provide global leadership for the major OEM suppliers. Leverage supplier management, category / commodity management & total cost principles to oversee the supplier selection process within the respective businesses/sites and encourage productive relationships with appropriate suppliers that drive meaningful value. Search, identify, qualify, develop, and manage suppliers to secure the best possible terms (cost, payment, inventory, etc) while ensuring operational performance (quality, OTD, lead time, cost, etc). Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality and other category managers to drive value analysis and engineering (VAVE) savings. Partner with NPD teams to obtain early supplier engagement to set expectations, optimize quality, supply reliability, while reducing risk and cost for new product launches. Identify and introduce new materials, technologies, & supply chain capabilities to meet current and future needs of ITT products. Other responsibilities as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides leadership, communication, and coaching to employees while cultivating a high-performance culture of motivated employees, environment of trust, customer service, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownership. Conduct the Performance Management Process with direct reports for effectiveness, timeliness, and expected outcomes in focusing, aligning, and engaging employees in the pursuit of the overall business strategies and goals. Support the acquisition and management of talent by: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; Planning, assigning, and directing work; Appraising performance; and addressing employee complaints and resolving issues. Promote adherence to the company's Code of Conduct and Policies (including safety protocols). Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or equivalent is required. Minimum of 10 - 15+ years of broad and global sourcing leadership experience, preferably in a highly regulated manufacturing organization, across a large multi-location, global business. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role. Global Sourcing contract negotiation skills. Experience in a mixed mode manufacturing environment, Engineer to Order, Low Volume / High Mix, and Configure to Order environment. Demonstrated experience building a well-performing culture and enhancing the business through a communicative, collaborative, energetic, team-oriented, and hands-on style. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of external and internal customers and stakeholders. Demonstrated experience influencing senior executives. Proven results in managing and developing talent. Working knowledge of Lean practices such as Daily Management, Standard Work, Kaizen, Heijunka, Poka-yoke, and Gemba. Experience with a variety of commodities such as machining, electronics, bar stock, metal fabrications, cables, molding, etc. The ideal candidate will drive for performance with a sense of urgency, have a passionate and accountability driven approach to employee engagement, and a commitment to work together as a team to achieve results. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in a large-scale, global organization with the ability to work at both the strategic and detailed level. Travel up to 50%
