Senior Marketing Specialist (SEO & Web Content Management)
Location: St. Louis, MO — Hybrid with on-site presence as business needs dictate
Reports to: Senior Director, Digital Marketing
About the Role: The Senior Marketing Specialist, SEO & Web Content Management is responsible for leading and executing UniGroup’s SEO, Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and website content initiatives across all UniGroup-owned brands. This role owns SEO and GEO content strategy while also serving as the hands-on executor within the CMS, ensuring search strategy translates into high-quality, optimized web experiences. This position blends deep SEO and GEO expertise with strong WordPress execution skills, including building and maintaining pages using Gutenberg blocks and reusable patterns. You will partner closely with Brand, Creative, Marketing Technology, Analytics, IT, Sales, Operations, and business leaders to ensure content and search strategies support business goals, customer experience, and operational realities.
What You’ll Do:
SEO and GEO Strategy
- Define and execute SEO and GEO strategy across all UniGroup-owned brands and digital properties
- Establish priorities, performance goals, and execution plans with a strong emphasis on content and on-page optimization
- Monitor search algorithm updates, SEO trends, and AI-driven discovery changes to inform strategy
- Identify growth opportunities by analyzing user intent, search behavior, and content performance
Content Strategy and Execution
- Develop and execute SEO-driven content plans aligned to user intent, customer journey stages, brand standards, and operational considerations
- Create SEO- and GEO-informed content outlines, templates, and briefs
- Write, edit, and optimize web content as needed to support priority initiatives
- Lead content refresh and optimization efforts based on performance data, keyword trends, and evolving user intent
WordPress CMS Ownership
- Build, update, and maintain website pages using WordPress with Gutenberg block-based editing
- Leverage reusable blocks and patterns to ensure scalable, consistent content execution
- Ensure content implementation aligns with SEO, GEO, accessibility, UX, and brand standards
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Sales, Operations, and business owners to ensure content accurately reflects services, capabilities, and market realities
- Support go-to-market initiatives, campaigns, and priority programs with SEO- and content-aligned web execution
- Serve as a central point of coordination for SEO and content inputs across cross-functional initiatives
Technical SEO and Site Health
- Surface recommendations related to technical SEO, site performance, and accessibility based on content and search analysis
- Partner with Marketing Technology and IT on site architecture, metadata, internal linking, schema, and site enhancements
- Support site updates, migrations, and template changes by providing SEO and content requirements and validation
Measurement and Optimization
- Monitor SEO and content performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and enterprise SEO platforms
- Track KPIs including traffic quality, rankings, engagement, AI visibility, and conversion performance
- Translate insights into prioritized recommendations for ongoing optimization
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in SEO, web content management, or digital marketing roles
- Demonstrated ownership of SEO strategy combined with hands-on CMS execution
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with WordPress, including Gutenberg blocks and reusable patterns
- Deep understanding of SEO fundamentals, search intent, and content optimization best practices
- Familiarity with Generative Engine Optimization and AI-driven search behaviors
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketing, IT, Sales, Operations, and business leaders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate performance data into actionable recommendations
- Highly organized and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment
