Border Patrol Agent Job Description

This role is a long-term federal law enforcement career that makes a difference every day to our country and its citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations

<h3 Required Skills And Qualifications:

1. Makes sound judgments in the use of firearms, deals effectively with people in connection with law enforcement matters,
2. Analyzes information rapidly making prompt decisions for arrests after completing required training applying these skills in law enforcement capacity such as criminal code enforcement determining violation of laws correctional rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders security military etc. ​​
3. A bachelor's degree superior academic achievement grade-point average based on class standing GPA honor society membership OR one full year graduate-level education related field study accredited college university; OR combination experience education calculated resume transcripts submitted application.​
