Senior Test Engineer – Telecom Location: Bethesda, MD

Peraton is seeking an experienced

Senior Test Engineer

to join our Telecom team. In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to the validation and performance of critical air traffic control systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

Lead Test Planning & Execution:

Design and execute comprehensive test plans, scenarios, and scripts for complex hardware and software systems.

Drive Network Performance Testing:

Evaluate system stability, throughput, and scalability under a wide range of operational and stress conditions.

Advance Test Automation:

Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test solutions using tools such as

Python

and

Robot Framework

to improve efficiency and coverage.

Own Defect Management:

Identify, analyze, and document defects, collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams to drive timely resolution.

Qualifications What You Bring

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Clearance:

Must be able to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience:

8+ years designing and executing complex automated test suites, diagnosing root causes, and supporting large-scale test environments.

Networking Expertise:

Strong command of TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and VLANs.

Test Automation:

Proficiency in

Python ,

C++ , or

Bash

to build and maintain automated testing frameworks.

Traffic & Analysis Tools:

Hands-on experience with traffic generators (Ixia, Spirent, T-Rex) and packet analysis tools such as

Wireshark .

Virtualization & Cloud:

Experience with hypervisors (KVM, ESXi), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud networking platforms (AWS VPC, Azure VNet).

Network Security Testing:

Exposure to automated security testing, vulnerability research, or red/blue team activities to ensure resilient networks.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. EEO
