Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Contract Specialist. NYU Langone Health is the Coordinating site for a major NIH grant to study Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection (PASC) or Long COVID. This 4 year initiative aims to answer key research questions needed to advance the scientific community\'s understanding of Long COVID and discover effective therapeutics to address it. The Contract Specialist position is part of the Clinical Science Core (CSC) whose purpose is to coordinate the development and implementation of master protocols, to provide expertise in clinical protocol design and implementation, and execution of large clinical research studies for the PASC grant. This is an interdepartmental effort that spans the Office of Science and Research, Department of Medicine, Department of Population Health and Medical Center IT. The Contracts Specialist of the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) is responsible for the review and negotiation of contracts, grant agreements and other agreements (including sub-awards and sub-contracts) administered by SPA. The position entails processing of all such contracts and liaisoning with sponsoring agencies, collaborating institutions, the Deans Office, the Department, the Principal Investigator, the Office of Science and Research (OSR), the Office of Industrial Liaison (OIL), the Office of Clinical Trials (OCT), the Office of Development (Development), the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), the Department of Insurance (Insurance), and others. The Contracts Specialist must work as part of a team within the research community to establish contracts, grant agreements and other agreements for the Director of SPAs signature. Responsibilities
Assist the Director of SPA with the review, negotiation and processing of all SPA contracts, grant agreements and other agreements, including marking up the contract based on the form, guidelines, and supervisors instruction; seek advice and direction from the Director of SPA, the Office of Legal Counsel, the Department of Insurance, and other departments when necessary. Perform other administrative duties as assigned by supervisor. Participate in activities related to systems improvement within SPA. Perform copying, scanning, distribution, and filing of all contractual documentation relating to research projects processed through the SPA. Perform general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Demonstrate knowledge of the organization\'s service standards and incorporate them into the performance of duties. Assist supervisor in development of new forms, guidelines, manuals, and directions in connection with SPA contracting process. Alert supervisor to any significant changes in documents requiring managerial review. Maintain current knowledge and processing guidelines of all forms, guidelines, manuals, directives, etc. which apply to the contracting process at NYU School of Medicine. Modify and/or create databases and complex spreadsheets. Customize and/or compose letters on own initiative or in response to requests for information. Assist, under the direction of the Director of SPA, with prioritizing SPA office activities and responding to inquiries with comprehensive knowledge of SPAs activities, policies and procedures. Assist with monitoring budget; alert supervisor of discrepancies and resolve within guidelines; assist with preparing related reports as requested. Maintain and update status of all contracts, grant agreements and other agreements in accordance with SPAs procedures. Liaise with investigators, research coordinators, Departments, OSR, OIL, OCT and Development regarding contract issues pursuant to SPAs guidelines and supervisor\'s instructions. Obtain all required supporting documents for each agreement including insurance, indemnification, compliance and internal approval documentation as required per the agreement and internal policy. Ensure processing of contracts and other award agreements for the Director of SPA signature, coordinating with sponsoring agencies, collaborating institutions, Principal Investigators and Departments to obtain final documents and signatures where appropriate. Identify and implement useful precedents for the study based on patterns established by previously reviewed contracts. Send correspondence and negotiate with external sponsors and collaborating institutions on NYULMC\'s behalf. Act as principal liaison on agreement review, negotiation and processing between SPA and sponsoring agencies, collaborating institutions, Principal Investigators, Departments, OSR, OIL, OCT, Development, OLC, Insurance and other NYU offices and individuals involved in SPA contract review and negotiation, all in accordance with SPAs guidelines and supervisor\'s instructions. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor\'s Degree plus three or more years related experience in research or contracts office OR a Juris Doctorate. Excellent interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and make decisions independently. Must be able to execute faithfully institutional guidelines and directions. Must be able to use PC for analysis and correspondence. Good proofreading skills with moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding abilities. Preferred Qualifications: Contract review and negotiation background strongly preferred. Juris Doctorate or Master\'s Degree preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
