Position: Assistant Public Defender – 1st Circuit – Public Defender's Office, Pensacola, Florida
Salary: $70,000 annually (minimum) with a generous benefits package. Closing Date: 04/30/2026.
Responsibilities
Represent defendants in misdemeanor cases, providing trial counsel during courtroom proceedings.
Research case law, prepare and present opening and closing arguments, and assist in cross‑examination and witness selection.
Communicate with defendants to develop trial strategy and ensure informed consent regarding legal matters.
Qualifications
Active member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to practice law in the State of Florida.
Strong trial advocacy skills and a commitment to protecting constitutional rights.
Preferred: Experience with criminal defense and willingness to attend FPDA continuing education seminars.
