This position is dependent on state funding, the position end date is 06/30/2026, if not renewed.**Compensation Type:**Exempt**Employment Type:**Temporary (Fixed Term)**Grade:**E06**Position Summary**The Northwest STEMinNM Regional Director provides strategic leadership for the Northwest Regional STEM Hub, advancing the mission and vision of the New Mexico STEM Innovation Network (STEMinNM). This role oversees and coordinates regional initiatives that expand equitable access to high-quality STEM learning across PreK–12 schools, out-of-school programs, higher education, workforce development, and industry partnerships.

Serving as the region’s primary convener and liaison, the Director will connect schools, communities, businesses, and higher education institutions to build regional STEM capacity. The Director will foster collaboration, drive innovative STEM opportunities, and support efforts that strengthen students’ STEM identities, engagement, and career readiness.MAJOR DUTIES* Oversees the Northwest Regional STEM Hub, promoting a unified regional vision for STEM education and representing STEMinNM through outreach, collaboration, and engagement activities.* Develops and executes project goals and regional initiatives that promote STEM engagement, integrate real-world learning, and strengthen communication among educators, students, and community partners.* Maintains strategic partnerships across schools, higher education, tribal, industry, and community organizations.* Coordinates with educators, administrators, and community partners to deliver high-quality STEM learning experiences for teacher professional development* Providing administrative oversight for the project, with responsibilities that include budget management, progress reporting, and ensuring the proper use of funds in accordance with SJC policies and state regulations.* Travels within the region and to the Principal Hub to coordinate statewide STEM efforts, support regional initiatives, and maintain a comprehensive asset map of STEM programs, resources, and activities.* Supervise and assign tasks of the STEM specialist; including making recommendations to hire, promote, and discipline direct reports and conducting annual performance review.* Occasional Duties

+ Identify and pursue regional funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and in-kind partnerships, to sustain and expand STEM programming.

+ Convene regional dialogues, summits, and advisory groups to advance STEM awareness and engagement.

+ Serve as the regional representative for STEMinNM in statewide meetings, events, and cross-regional initiatives.

+ Gather data and prepare reports, presentations, publications, spreadsheets, tables and charts.* Performs related duties.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION* Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public along with demonstrated experience working across units, divisions, and community, corporate and or/Educational partnerships.* Demonstrated fiscal management experience, including budgeting, monitoring expenditures, and preparing reports.* Ability to establish strategy and direction.* Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices and experience in the delegation of responsibility and authority.* Leadership skills with the ability to inspire collaboration and align diverse partners around a shared vision.* Experience working in and understanding of STEM education trends, workforce development, and best practices in K–12 and postsecondary education.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to represent the organization effectively in public and professional settings.* Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.* Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and data management tools.* Ability and willingness to travel within the region and statewide as required.SUPERVISORY CONTROLSThis position reports to the Dean of Science, Math and Engineering who sets overall program goals and objectives for the Northwest Regional STEM Hub. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.GUIDELINESThe guidelines include the Scope of Work for the New Mexico STEM Innovation Network Document, NM Legislation related to the STEM Innovation Network, SJC Business and Grant policies and procedures and college and department policies and procedures. The guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require interpretation and adaptation to the regional hub.COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK* The work consists of coordinating and overseeing the operations of the regional hub as well as performing outreach and creating engagement activities related to the initiative. The dynamic landscape of the initiative as well as the ability for this employee to be adaptable and flexible with changes contribute to the complexity of the position.* The purpose of this position is to improve build capacity, foster collaboration, and strengthen STEM identities in the Northwest region of New Mexico. * Contacts are typically with industry partners, professionals, other college personnel, faculty, staff, current students, members from other regional school districts and members of the general public.* Contacts are typically to identify and analyze needs, give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services. Serves as the region’s primary convener and liaison, connecting schools, communities, businesses, and higher education institutions to build regional STEM capacity.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT* The work is typically performed at a desk or table or intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.* The work is typically performed in an office and classroom.SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITYThe Director has supervision over the Part-time STEM Specialist (1).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM field, business administration, or a related discipline in required.* Three years of experience working in STEM Education and project management.* Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of New Mexico for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.**The following REQUIRED documents must be submitted with application in order to be considered****.
