The Regional Underwriting Team Leader role is a hybrid position, and candidates may be considered from any of the three locations: Monterey, CA, Roseville, CA, Reno, NV.
Job Overview The purpose of this position is to lead the underwriting and production efforts of a regional team of commercial underwriters in an assigned geography or regional sales territory. The Underwriting Team Leader is responsible for day-to-day production, underwriting quality, account management, and referral authority. This position is responsible for the direction and management of up to eight direct reports, including small to middle market production underwriters working in an office and/or remote environment.
The Underwriting Team Leader provides technical direction to Commercial Lines team in the interpretation of Commercial Lines underwriting policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, direct responsibility for new and existing business, acceptance, declination, workflow, department procedures, and proper application of corporate underwriting policies, procedures and compliance with Insurance regulations.
This position will also have individual production responsibilities involving large and more complex technical accounts as well as providing superior support to CIG top and or middle tier agents.
Requirements Knowledge of:
Underwriting principles, procedures, rules and regulations
Relevant knowledge of pertinent DOI Regulations and pending legislative issues
Rating plans (ISO or similar) and commercial lines coverages
Knowledge of social, economic, and competitive aspects of territory assigned
National and local business conditions and trends
Underwriting and marketing philosophy and procedure
Education and Experience:
College degree (or equivalent experience) and seven to ten years of experience writing small to medium sized small business and middle market risks as a commercial line's underwriter. The position also requires a minimum of two to three years in a leadership or supervisory role directing the efforts of a professional team to manage agency relationships and business production.
Completion of technical insurance coursework preferred, such as CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM or CIC.
Salary Range $85,284 - $140,718
The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as benefits and bonus programs.
