Overview
The Douglas County District Attorney's Office is accepting applications for a Victim/Witness Specialist. This position provides system-based advocacy to victims and witnesses starting when cases are received by the District Attorney's office for review. This role aids assistant district attorneys in preparing victims and witnesses for court and acts as the primary contact for the office. This position upholds the Victim's Bill of Rights and provides trauma-informed care. Responsibilities
Provide system-based advocacy to victims and witnesses from case intake through court proceedings. Aid assistant district attorneys in preparing victims and witnesses for court appearances. Serve as the primary contact for the office for victims, witnesses, and related stakeholders. Uphold the Victim\'s Bill of Rights and provide trauma-informed care. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, or related field, or substantial equivalent work experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Successful completion of a criminal background check and a valid driver\'s license. Experience in advocacy for victims of crimes, familiarity with law enforcement and court procedures and processes, and knowledge of the dynamics of victimization preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships with diverse co-workers, community members, and customers. Salary, Benefits, and Status
Pay range: $26.52 - $38.44/hr, depending on qualifications, with excellent benefits. Health insurance beginning the first day of the month following start date; Health/Prescription, Dental, and Life Insurance with various dependent coverage levels available; Vision Insurance; discounted fitness club memberships; and other voluntary benefits. Paid time off: vacation and sick leave accrual from start; 14 vacation days, 15 sick days, 1 personal day, and 9 paid holidays per year.
