Job Description
Responsible for overseeing clinical outcomes for the cardiovascular service line. This position ensures system‑wide improvement strategies for nationally public‑reported cardiovascular measures meet both national and corporate goals and apprises senior leadership of performance. Additionally, this role collaborates with senior leadership, program medical directors, elected leaders of the medical staff, and cardiovascular nurse leaders to set priorities and develop improvement strategies for various national cardiovascular registries and publicly reported cardiovascular measures. In addition, this position leads multidisciplinary teams in the assessment and implementation of cardiovascular initiatives that improve patient outcomes and performance measures. Responsibilities for this role include directing the data collection of critical measures to provide overall program outcomes and physician‑level outcomes that drive accountability for system‑wide cardiovascular quality priorities.
- Educates abstractors on surgical procedures and disease states covered in each cardiovascular database, providing supplemental education as needed.
- Maintains a knowledge base on relevant cardiovascular diseases, surgical procedures, and databases by reading new literature and attending conferences.
- Collaborates with senior leadership to set priorities and develop improvement strategies for various national cardiovascular registries and publicly reported cardiovascular measures.
- Provides data management support by utilizing multiple data registries to support cardiovascular programs.
- Manages expenses and FTEs within the Cardiovascular Outcomes Department per the annual budget.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. (Required)
- Demonstrated effective public speaking skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable and compelling terms to all levels of staff, administration, and physicians within the organization. (Required)
- Strong written communication skills as evidenced by written memorandums, minutes, action plans, and presentations. (Required)
- Advance knowledge of cardiovascular practice. (Required)
- Strong analytical skills for identifying root causes and trends. (Required)
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Required)
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint (Preferred)
- Knowledge of and experience with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and NCDR database systems (Preferred)
- Relational database and SQL experience (Preferred)
- CMS and Joint Commission Core Measures (Preferred)
- Lean/Six Sigma training and experience (Preferred)
- CPHQ certification (Preferred)
- Basic and intermediate statistical and numerical analysis methodology (Preferred)
Education
- Bachelor's of Nursing (Required)
- Master's (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 5+ experience in cardiovascular nursing practice, one of which at a leadership and/or teaching level (Required)
Licenses And Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)

Pay Range
$127,310.90 - $236,789.66
