General Summary

The Claims Representative 2 will manage automobile physical damage and general and automobile liability or property claims (depending on business need) for municipal members in accordance with internal claims protocols and industry best practices, while taking overall claims management direction from the Claims and Litigation Manager. This position is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with members, the Board of Trustees, and all service providers. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide accurate coverage analysis and communicate coverage limitations to members.

Conduct thorough investigations and inspections to assess liability and damages.

Identify subrogation or salvage recovery opportunities to help positively impact program financials.

Demonstrate sound reserving practices.

Maintain strong oral and written communication with business professional writing and respond promptly to internal and external customers and members.

Utilize repair shops, contractors, and experts to support claim evaluation.

Maintain diligent diary practices.

Review invoices for accuracy, utilizing vendors when applicable.

Negotiate and settle low to medium value claims with increasing complexity.

Clearly document claim activities and plans of action in the claim file.

Represent the program at mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences as needed.

Recommend settlements above assigned authority to the Claims and Litigation Manager or Administrator and CEO.

Report gaps in member exposure data to the Underwriting Manager.

Communicate claim trends to the Risk Manager and collaborate on risk mitigation measures.

Consistently meet expectations and goals on most claim file review areas.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, company manuals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, members, other business customers, and the public. Decisions and Judgment

Sound judgment and problem-solving skills are required. Minimum Qualifications

Two to four years of experience adjusting automobile physical damage and general and automobile liability or property claims (depending on business need) required. Extensive experience writing and reviewing estimates, including use of estimating software (Xactimate and or CCC One), and maintaining electronic files in a claims management information system required. Additional Requirements

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver’s License and insurance required

Kansas Insurance Agent’s License preferred but not required

Insurance or claims designation preferred but not required

Special Requirements and Skills

Strong knowledge of property and casualty insurance coverage

Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state laws covering claims and insurance

Knowledge of claims best practices

Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel

Excellent investigation and problem-solving abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent presentation skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Work Environment

Office environment

Statewide travel up to 25% including overnight stays

Prolonged sitting

Prolonged standing while conducting trainings

Driving for long periods of time to meet with members

Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching
