Under direct supervision, investigate losses, negotiate settlements, and maintain adequate production levels. Examine claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to determine coverages. Shadow an adjuster, obtain official reports, inspect physical damage, and compare claim information with evidence. Set loss reserves and prepare reports summarizing required information for client, local, state, and federal government. Determine liability, issue settlement checks, file regulatory documents, dispose salvage, and pursue subrogation when appropriate. Control claims costs, maintain expected caseload, and keep professional knowledge through continuing education. Review and approve reports on losses exceeding $10,000, create day‑to‑day agenda with manager assistance, conduct roof inspections as needed, and uphold the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times. Participate in special projects or perform duties in other areas as requested. Qualifications
College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of Crawford and Company basic property class and ongoing education required for advancement. Good verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and mathematical ability, and solid time‑management and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy. Valid driver’s license and completion of continued education requirements outlined by Crawford Educational Services. Variable schedule including on‑call; may require work beyond normal business hours and travel outside normal hours.
