Art Director (Redondo Beach, CA) - Dakine and Body Glove
The Art Director is responsible for driving the creative development of key consumer brands. This role partners closely with Marketing, Brand, and Business Development to translate brand strategy into compelling, culturally relevant creative assets that drive brand heat and deliver commercial impact across all relevant platforms. This is a hands-on creative leadership role requiring strong creative, design and production expertise and a proven ability to work on an integrated team.
Responsibilities
Brand & Visual Identity
– In collaboration with Manager and key internal Brand stakeholders create and maintain the visual direction for key brands; spearhead the development of all Brand creative for designated brands; preserve brand standards, ensure consistent application across all brands, marketing, packaging, trade and consumer-facing assets; serve as the point of contact on all brand development, visual execution and brand presentations.
Brand Toolbox
– Drive the development and timely delivery of all Brand materials and collateral including Brand Book, Brand, Packaging, Retail and design Guidelines and all Brand materials that require creative development; lead creative direction and production for brand and seasonal campaigns, PR/editorial assets for use across all relevant channels: in-store, online, ecomm, social media, out-of-home, events etc.; develop creative concepts that align with brand strategy, business needs, athlete related content and culturally relevant storytelling; direct photo and video shoots, including casting, locations, and overall visual tone.
Creative Production Management
– Oversee execution across photography, video, motion, graphic design, and digital assets; manage internal creative resources and external partners, agencies and freelancers; ensure all creative deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and budget expectations; cross-functional collaboration, communication & creative leadership – partner cross-functionally with Integrated MB teams: Marketing, PR, Social and Digital Media, Corporate Communications, Data & Insights, Brand, Marketplace and Business Development teams.
Brand Partnerships & Communication
– Liaise with Brand partners (licensees), develop clear and regular lines of communication that enhance the Brand Management model; translate business objectives into compelling visual storytelling; mentor designers and contribute to a high-performance, creatively driven team culture; stay informed on cultural events, active and outdoor trends, action and mainstream sports, youth movements.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; major or significant coursework in Art, Graphic Design, or related disciplines highly preferred.
8+ years' experience in Graphic Design or Art Direction roles. In-house brand or creative agency experience preferred.

Strong Portfolio showcasing a wide range of design skills.
Digital first thinker
Skilled creative thinker, strategically, conceptually & analytically.
Ability to think outside the box and visually bring life to storytelling.
An entrepreneur who creates custom designs on trend and trend settings.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite/ Creative Cloud and Canva
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Ability to travel for photoshoots, content creation, and NY HQ team meetings (2x/year)
