Outside Sales - Groundwater Pumping Equipment & Supplies (Theodore, AL)
Wholesale Pump & Supply, Inc (WPS) has been in the pump and supply business for 70 years and we are growing. WPS is a leader in distribution of groundwater, wastewater, municipal, commercial, and industrial pumping equipment and related supplies. WPS currently has nine branches located throughout Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama.
We are seeking an outside sales representative with a background in the groundwater/water well pump and supply market. This role involves selling to residential and agricultural water well drillers, pump installers, and groundwater service contractors. Candidates must be able to travel throughout Southern Central Alabama and Southern Mississippi region and work independently.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of sales experience in water well, groundwater, industrial, commercial, or municipal freshwater/wastewater pump market.
Water well and/or submersible pump knowledge is a plus.
Plumbing/piping products knowledge is a plus.
Knowledge of product lines is a plus but not required.
Open‑minded, critical thinking skills to solve technical problems and handle difficult customers.
Essential Functions
Build strong working relationships with clients.
Generate sales leads by cold calling and follow up on all leads.
Prepare weekly sales performance reports to the sales manager.
Manage sales territory and communicate sales information to corporate staff.
Ensure customers receive manufacturer training opportunities.
Troubleshoot and understand pump applications and sizing.
Motivate to meet new customers and solve pump performance problems daily.
Work with customers to apply WPS products to applications.
Provide excellent customer service, operate with minimal supervision, and communicate effectively with clients and WPS personnel.
Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Become proficient with WPS computer systems Epicor Prelude and PHOCAS.
Hold a clean and valid driver’s license.
Pass a random drug test.
Travel regionally about 70% of the time, including some overnights.
Salary & Benefits This position has a base salary with commission. The chosen candidate will receive a company truck (for work use only), cell phone, laptop, and company credit card. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), and profit sharing.
