Overview
The Instructional Designer position involves providing high-quality support to Academic Programs and faculty course leads for pre-clinical students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. This role involves analyzing learning needs and partnering with subject matter experts to develop course content. The Instructional Designer assists faculty in setting instructional goals, creating assessments, and developing engaging learning activities using various applications and tools. They also prepare and organize course materials for the Learning Management System.
Responsibilities
Collaborates with faculty, academic staff, and administrators to design, produce, and implement curriculum
Analyzes learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to develop course content
Assists faculty in setting instructional goals, creating assessments, and developing engaging learning activities
Utilizes various learning applications (Allele, Canvas, etc.) and PowerPoint for teaching
Gathers documents and course materials, entering them into the Learning Management System
Ensures all preparatory materials are properly linked in applications before sharing with students
Maintains current and relevant course materials
Solves problems through evaluation, interpretation, and innovative approaches
Plans, organizes, and develops curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs
Plans and coordinates skill assessments and training programs
May have teaching responsibilities
Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
Participate on university committees
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Masters Degree or equivalent in related field
Experience in higher education
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency with technology and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of statistics and educational research methods
Knowledge of university program goals and objectives
Familiarity with veterinary education and TBL (Team-Based Learning)
Experience with Allele
