POSITION SUMMARY:
Direct and supervise the performance of the Agents and Agency Managers and facilitate effective partnerships with county Farm Bureau leadership in order to achieve salesforce, membership, and property & casualty and life sales and profitability goals in the assigned territory.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Strategic Planning : Develop and implement strategic business plans which support the corporate initiatives for salesforce and premium growth, expense management, and profitability goals in the assigned territory.
Performance Management : Ensure Property & Casualty, Life, and Membership sales and profitability goals are allocated to and met by Agency Managers in the assigned territory. Monitoring and managing agent incentives, contests and bonus plans.
Communications : Develop and maintain effective plans for field communications with the Agency Force, Regional Operations Managers, Field Service Directors and County and State Farm Bureau leadership. Develop and maintain effective communication channels with other departments to ensure excellent customer service. Work closely with Human Resources on all personnel matters, including hiring and performance management concerns.
Problem Resolution : Research and resolve complex issues that have escalated above the Agency Manager level, including employee, policyholder and county leadership concerns and complaints; working closely with Human Resources on all employee relations issues.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Attend meetings, conferences, conventions and training opportunities, including agency, district and staff meetings, Sales Conference, SFB Managers Conference, VFBF Convention. Attend and encourage agency force to attend incentive trips including All Star, Round Table, Sportsman’s, Winner’s Challenge, etc.
Oversight of New Agent contracts; monitoring of former agents’ continuing contract expectations.
All other duties assigned by the VP of Field Operations.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years direct management/leadership experience
8-10 years experience with Farm Bureau
5+ years multiline, captive-agent sales management experience
Active Virginia insurance licenses in Property & Casualty and Life & Health
Insurance Industry Designations (LUTCF, CLU, ChFC, etc.)
MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong work ethic
Flexibility to work hours necessary to manage assigned territory & meet expectations (approximately 90% travel / 10% overnight travel)
Proven ability to strategically think outside of the box and promote and motivate change for gain.
Demonstrated leadership ability to manage results versus expectations and hold the team accountable.
Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
Proven County and State leadership communication experience
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proven support of corporate goals without regard for personal gain
Proven track record of leading successful teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree or MBA
Advanced Insurance Designations (CPCU, CFP®, etc.)>
Proven track record of strong team leadership
Demonstration of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) skills
