Job Summary The Merchant Services Sales Representative is responsible for driving growth by acquiring new merchant services relationships within an assigned territory. This role focuses on building strong partnerships with small and medium-sized businesses, consulting with clients to identify payment solutions that meet their unique needs. The representative will present and sell merchant payment processing products—including credit card, ACH, check processing—and related hardware and software. In addition, the role involves collaborating with internal CBC teams to identify and fulfill broader banking needs, ensuring a comprehensive and client-focused approach. Success in this position requires strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to develop lasting client relationships while meeting aggressive growth and service goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Acquire new merchant services relationships through prospecting external sources within the sales representative's assigned territory, as well as through referrals from internal CBC employees and teams. Consult with prospective businesses in identifying the proper payment solution to meet the business needs; present and sell merchant payment processing including credit card, check processing, ACH, and the corresponding hardware and software products with small and medium-sized businesses. Identify merchants' other banking needs and work with available CBC resources to deliver solutions that meet those needs. Prospect small and medium-sized businesses in the sales representative's assigned region to supplement bank referrals. Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Complies with all CBC policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of CBC’s clients and CBC. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (required) Work Experience 1+ years payments-related experience in a banking environment (required) 1+ years success in a client-focused environment with aggressive growth and service goals (required) Skills Strong financial acumen including the ability to read and understand financial statements. Exceptional negotiating and closing skills. Managing and nurturing client relationships by overseeing their accounts, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring clients receive tailored solutions to meet their business needs. Persuading and motivating clients and colleagues to adopt solutions or take actions that align with business goals, using effective communication and interpersonal skills. Physical Demands General Office – Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face-to-face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs. Driving Requirements Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
