
Job Description
OBJECTIVE / ACCOUNTABILITY
To provide excellent service and support to assigned and house accounts by managing orders accurately, maintaining strong customer relationships, and contributing to team sales goals. This role focuses on internal account management and general sales support to ensure customers receive timely, professional assistance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Sales & Customer Service
Accurately enter and process customer orders, quotes, credits, and inquires in ERP system, shared files, and Sharepoint
Support assigned and house accounts by responding promptly to customer requests and questions via phone or email
Maintain accurate customer information and communication records in the ERP system.
Ensure all order details—pricing, shipping instructions, and product availability—are correct and complete.
Communicate company policies on ordering, shipping, and credits clearly and professionally.
Resolve order, delivery, and billing issues with a focus on customer satisfaction and efficiency.
Answer phone calls in a professional and friendly manner
Enter and maintain customer credit card information as well as processing when necessary.
Maintain and contribute to positive work environment and attitude
Resolve product and/or service problems with active listening skills and follow up.
Keep track of and document comments and criticisms learned about while working with customers in ERP System.
Job shadow/Assist in other departments such as Sales Yard, QC/QA, or Accounting if necessary
Customer & Team Support
Provide general support to all assigned accounts and assist the broader sales team as needed.
Collaborate with the Inside Sales Supervisor and other Inside Sales Representatives to ensure consistent service levels.
Participate in promotional and outbound sales efforts for seasonal items and specials.
Contribute ideas for improving internal processes and the customer experience.
Support the team in trade shows and sales events, especially during the winter and summer seasons.
Manage and prioritize incoming calls and general sales email inquiries
Inventory & Product Knowledge
Participate in product and sales training sessions to continue developing industry knowledge.
Continually update knowledge of products, industry, and customers by researching, investigating history and running reports
Adjust to changes in shipping and product availability
Add notes to Inside Sales Rolling Calendar & Chalkboard as necessary.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order entry and customer communication.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP/CRM systems preferred.
Ability to learn and communicate the benefits of Midwest Trading products and services.
Ability to build relationships through active listening to gain understanding of customer needs and concerns
Constant phone and computer work in a primarily desk-based office environment.
Follow and support company policies and procedures
Positive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to learning and professional growth.
Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure during peak seasons.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in sales or business preferred.
1–2 years of experience in customer service or inside sales. Green Industry knowledge a plus.
