Job Summary St Joseph Catholic Church, Manchester is seeking a faith-filled, energetic, and highly organized individual to serve as
Summer Camp Director . This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading a summer camp program that provides children with a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching experience. The Summer Camp Director works collaboratively with parish/school leadership, staff, and volunteers to ensure the program reflects the mission and values of Catholic education while fostering fun, growth, and community.
Job Responsibilities
Design, plan, and implement a fun, faith-based, and age-appropriate summer camp program rooted in Catholic values
Oversee daily camp operations, including scheduling, activity planning, and supervision of campers
Recruit, train, lead, and support camp staff, aides, and volunteers, modeling positive and respectful leadership
Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, staff, and parish/school leadership
Monitor camper behavior and ensure consistent enforcement of safety guidelines and behavior expectations
Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents, following established procedures and reporting as required
Coordinate camp logistics such as schedules, field trips, supplies, and materials
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and faith-centered environment consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church
Job Requirements
Practicing Catholic preferred and committed to the values of Catholic education
Prior experience in education, camp leadership, or youth ministry strongly preferred
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to collaborate with a co-director and work effectively as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-energy environments
Must be at least 21 years of age
CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
Must complete and maintain compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program, including Protecting God’s Children training and background screening
