We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Technical Outside Sales Representative to drive the sale of high-value, large-scale plastics processing machinery, including Injection Molding, Extrusion, and Blow Molding systems. This pivotal role requires leveraging deep technical expertise in plastics manufacturing to consult with Plant Managers and Engineers, develop complex, customized machinery solutions, and manage high-six-figure to seven-figure sales cycles. Key Responsibilities

Technical Sales & Consultation:

Serve as the primary technical resource for prospects and clients. Conduct detailed needs assessments and provide consultative guidance on selecting, sizing, and configuring plastics machinery and high-automation peripheral equipment (e.g., robotics, materials handling, auxiliary equipment). Revenue Generation:

Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve annual sales targets (e.g., $X million) for capital equipment and related high-margin service contracts. Manage the entire complex sales cycle from lead qualification through contract negotiation and closing. Proposal Development:

Collaborate closely with engineering and finance teams to prepare highly detailed, customized technical proposals, specifications, and comprehensive ROI analyses for multi-million dollar machinery purchases. Market Intelligence:

Proactively monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements within the plastics manufacturing sector to identify and capitalize on new market opportunities. Client Relationship Management:

Build and maintain long-term, high-level relationships with key decision-makers, including Production Managers, Plant Engineers, and C-suite leadership. Travel & Demonstrations:

Conduct frequent site visits, machinery demonstrations, and technical presentations to prospective clients across the assigned territory (estimated 50-75% travel). Key Qualifications

5+ years of successful technical sales experience selling capital equipment, preferably within the plastics or a closely related industrial manufacturing sector. Deep, demonstrable technical understanding of at least one core plastics process (e.g., Injection Molding, Extrusion, Blow Molding principles, and operation). Proven ability to manage a complex, long-cycle sales process (6-12 months) and close large-scale, high-value deals. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and conducting financial/ROI analysis. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Plastics, or Industrial) is highly preferred. Strong presentation and negotiation skills. Compensation & Benefits
