Position Summary The HR Compliance Specialist reports to the Sr. Manager, HR Compliance and plays an integral role in the HR Compliance functional group. This position conducts internal and external audits, gathers and monitors HR policies and procedures for compliance and improvement. This position assists the organization with federal and state law compliance to support the development of compliance programs, policies, reporting and practices for the organization, in partnership with the leadership team.

Essential Functions of the Job

Regularly monitor processes and procedures to ensure they align with legal and ethical standards.

Conduct audits to identify areas of non-compliance and improvement and advise management on risk mitigation strategies.

Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures and ensure they are clearly communicated to employees.

Responsible for keeping our DOJ processes current and will serve as a Custodian of Records (COR) with the DOJ.

Maintains and updates the credentialing process and assists with collecting and completing credentialing documents for applicable jobs.

Reviews, tracks, processes, and responds to legal requests, such as subpoena’s, public record requests, and personnel record requests, including gathering documents.

Leads and coordinates the process of internal and external audits, including preparing for audits, gathering requested information, and following up on audit findings.

Develop and conduct training to ensure compliance and as follow up to audit findings, as needed.

Establishes and implements the retention schedule for HR documents based on legal requirements and organizational needs.

Oversees and assists with the digitization of HR documents.

Assists with internal investigations and ensures effective, thorough, and objective processes.

Provide guidance and make recommendations for successful resolution of personnel and performance issues, in accordance with SY Health’s policy and applicable laws.

Stays updated on legislative changes and recommends updates to policies and processes to keep the organization in compliance.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Provide as backup to other HR Compliance positions, as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Education Required (Minimum level of education)

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in human resources, public administration, or a closely related field.

Or, an equivalent combination of education and/or training and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses Preferred

PHR/SPHR/SPHR-CA

Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate

Experience Required (Minimum level of experience)

Three years of experience in Human Resources Compliance

Verbal and Written Skills Required to perform the Job

Must have excellent English speaking and writing skills.

Must be proficient in making group presentations.

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job

Must be knowledgeable of State and Federal employment law.

Equipment Used

Microsoft Office suite including, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.

HR Information system and applicant tracking system.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Your initial work assignment will be Hybrid (Remote and Onsite).

Your work location may vary to include travel to work at other sites based on business need.
