Responsibilities The Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist performs the following duties to assigned sites across Mayo Midwest: accurately and efficiently procures and ensures an effective inventory of medications and supplies; assists with the management of medication shortages; processes medication recalls and the return of pharmaceuticals and/or their destruction; and performs the duties of a Pharmacy Purchasing Technician as assigned.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (business, management, accounting or related field) and 2 years of pharmacy technician experience; or two-year college degree (healthcare or business preferred) and 4 years pharmacy technician experience; or high school diploma and 6 years pharmacy technician experience.

Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Must be detailed-oriented; able to prioritize work and able to work independently under general guidelines and procedures. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills; computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications; work collaboratively with others and work independently with minimal supervision. A minimum of two years’ experience in pharmacy purchasing and inventory control strongly preferred. No history of drug abuse or misuse, or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.

Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy in the state the employee is hired to work in where required by state regulation, or eligible to obtain. May not perform duties requiring registration until registration is obtained. National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.

Compensation Detail $26.00 - $38.55 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

Schedule Full Time

Schedule Details Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. closing rotation; 80 hours / pay period.
