Senior Purchasing Agent

to join our ALCAL team. The preferred location for this role is our Dublin, CA branch, though it can be based at other branch locations. The Senior Purchasing Agent leads inventory replenishment, category purchasing, and supplier management to support service levels, profitability, and inventory performance across all locations. This role executes purchasing policies, manages vendor relationships, and may specialize in Wire Quotes—overseeing wire sourcing, customer quotations, pricing, and contracts to drive sales growth and optimize wire inventory strategies. Benefits:

Competitive Pay: $83,000 - $103,000 annual salary depending upon experience

Responsibilities:

Oversee inventory replenishment and category purchasing for assigned vendors across all locations to meet service and performance targets

Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess, obsolete, and slow-moving stock

Track and manage inventory metrics including turns, fill rates, GMROI, and overall performance

Ensure accurate purchasing and inventory data within the ERP system

Manage branch transfers and monitor freight and purchasing costs

Conduct supplier reviews, performance evaluations, and product line rationalization

Develop strong supplier partnerships to secure competitive pricing, lead times, and favorable terms

Partner with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction

Wire Quotes & Wire Category Management (as assigned):

Prepare and manage timely, accurate wire quotations for customers

Ensure quotes meet pricing strategies, margin goals, and technical requirements

Lead sourcing, purchasing, and replenishment for the wire product category

Negotiate and manage wire contracts and blanket orders

Coordinate with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, and delivery timelines

Monitor quote activity, margins, and market competitiveness and resolve issues as needed

Collaboration & Reporting:

Communicate proactively with sales, branch, and corporate teams on purchasing, inventory, and quote activity

Support sales leadership with pricing and sourcing expertise

Analyze supplier performance, quote metrics, and market trends

Provide insights and reporting to leadership

Maintain compliance with company policies and documentation requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable.

5–10+ years of purchasing, sourcing, and/or quoting experience; wire, cable, or electrical industry experience strongly preferred.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in Solar Eclipse ERP (inventory and purchasing modules required).

Phocas experience preferred.

Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
