The Senior Director of U.S. Federal Government Affairs will lead advocacy efforts to advance U.S. stakeholder engagement and increase testing. Key responsibilities include representing Danaher Diagnostics in meetings with Congress and trade associations on priority platform and OpCo issues, identifying strategic opportunities to influence external stakeholders, and driving impact in a complex, uncertain political environment.
The Senior Director will report to the VP of Global Government Affairs and will join a highly professional and motivated team that is constantly looking for ways to further support Operating Companies and Disease Teams. The role is fully remote.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
- Lead U.S. federal Government Affairs initiatives to protect and advance patient access to Danaher’s diagnostic OpCo tests and its franchises/OpCo business units before policymakers, elected officials, trade and business associations, and other allies and influencers.
- Build the reputation of Danaher Diagnostics US federal Government Affairs as the preferred, trusted partner that drives constructive solutions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key members of federal government agencies and executive offices, proactively identifying targets, prioritizing resources, networking with office staff, and developing outreach and advocacy/coalition programs to achieve desired results.
- Stay apprised of business goals and strategies to assess impact on Danaher Diagnostics OpCo tests from federal, state/regional, executive and regulatory activities; consult with internal business leaders to formulate action plans.
- Identify healthcare, economic and other federal policy developments that could impact Danaher Diagnostics OpCo businesses and operations; pursue favorable policies and defend against harmful ones.
Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years high‑level U.S. health policy/government affairs experience or Master’s/Doctoral degree with 5+ years of similar experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of U.S. health policy related to business implications through experience in the U.S. government, health‑care advocacy, policy consulting or a think tank.
- Strong strategic and tactical planning skills, with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Existing relationships with government and stakeholders based on mutual respect; capable of building and maintaining external networks.
- Skillful strategist able to synthesize complex and contradictory data into actionable strategies.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
- Ability to travel – 20%
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in
- 10+ years of direct leadership experience.
- Ability to formulate public sector strategy scenarios and lead cross‑functional teams to act on them.
- Experience with policies related to AI, AMR, Alzheimer’s, Oncology and/or diagnostic testing reimbursement.
The salary range for this role is $200,000–$225,000 USD. This range is the estimated compensation for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future.
- This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
